About the Project
New Location, New Opportunities
The construction of the new headquarters for the Baltic Opera in Gdańsk is more than just the creation of another stage. It is a well-thought-out investment in a space that will genuinely improve access to culture for everyone.
The new building will feature two auditoriums: a primary 1,500-seat hall designed for opera performances, and a second, multifunctional 700-seat hall. Exhibition and workshop spaces will also be created, alongside an outdoor stage built to preserve the heritage of the People's Assembly Square (Plac Zebrań Ludowych). The facility will accommodate festivals, concerts, and a wide variety of artistic and educational events, serving as an open, vibrant center that fosters engagement with art, relaxation, and community building.
The surrounding area will be transformed into a publicly accessible green space with a service and dining zone. This will give the entire complex a welcoming character, open to all regardless of whether they are attending an artistic event. It will offer a new spot for daily relaxation, walks, or meeting up with friends.
Additionally, the structure will incorporate a shelter system to provide extra protective infrastructure for local residents. The entire facility will be designed in accordance with ecological standards, certified by BREEAM.
