Bug Poems

BUG POEMS is a multi-channel sound installation by Justyna Banaszczyk (FOQL) , one of the most compelling figures in Polish experimental music and sound art. The project invites audiences to enter a world we rarely notice: a world of insects, microsounds, and the hidden relationships between humans and nature.

The starting point for the installation is the experimental album-radio play Bug Poems , in which electronics, voice, sound poetry, and spoken word narrative intertwine into an evocative story about strangeness, fear, and the fascination with what eludes our attention. The insect becomes not only the protagonist of the story but also a metaphor for otherness, fragility, and the fragile balance between humans and the world around them.

The installation has no clear beginning or end. It is a listening space where sound changes with the viewer's movement. The individual layers of the composition gradually reveal themselves, encouraging attentive movement, pausing, and discovering subsequent elements of the acoustic landscape. The experience is more akin to a stroll than a traditional concert, and hearing itself becomes a tool for exploring the invisible world.

FOQL's work has transcended genres for years. She combines electronic music, sound art, radio art, installations, and performance, consistently exploring the social and emotional significance of sound. She is a co-founder of the Pointless Geometry label and the community-based Radio Kapitał , and her projects have been presented at major experimental music festivals in Poland and abroad.

During the FUTUROFONIA Festival, the BUG POEMS installation will become a meeting point for sound art, imagination, and mindful listening. It's an invitation to experience space differently and to listen to what usually remains inaudible.
