Description
Project Butterfly is an international cooperation project aimed at increasing ecological awareness in the creation of opera and developing a new approach to sustainable development in opera theaters by identifying new environmentally friendly practices related to the production, stage presentation and promotion of opera.
Each act is prepared by a different partner country:
Perla di Speranza (The Pearl of Hope) - Italy
Hengitä (Breathe) - Finland
Jezioro popiołów (The Lake of Ashes) - Poland
Each act also has a different point of reference: earth (Italy), air (Finland) and water (Poland). The opera's libretto was created based on stories written by young people. The plot of the Polish act was worked on by high school students from the 6th Secondary School in Gdańsk, the libretto was wriiten by Jagoda Kościk (Jagoda Jagson), and the music was written by a Tri-City composer – Beniamin Baczewski.
