Description
The Haunted Manor is Stanisław Moniuszko's most outstanding work, considered the quintessence of Polish national opera. It tells the moving story of brothers Zbigniew and Stefan who, upon returning from war, decide to remain bachelors, avoid marriage, and dedicate themselves to their homeland. Fate, however, has a twist in store, and their plans are disrupted by the arrival of two charming sisters – Hanna and Jadwiga.
This opera is a true feast for the senses, full of catchy arias, dynamic choruses, and vibrant ensemble scenes. You'll find both uplifting patriotic moments and light, comedic interludes that will make you laugh to tears. Moniuszko masterfully blends national elements with universal themes of love, courage, and sacrifice. Our production will confront Moniuszko's work with contemporary reality, posing the question of what patriotism means today.
