Temple of Urania

Audiovisual installation

TEMPLE OF URANIA is an immersive audiovisual installation in which sound, image, and space create a single, multi-layered experience. The project was created as a collaboration between three artists: Justyna Banaszczyk (FOQL) , Darek Pietraszewski (Copy Corpo) , and Tomek Popakul (Asthma) . It began as an artist residency on the island of Jersey, realized just before the outbreak of the pandemic. The subsequent period of lockdown gave the project a new dimension, leading to the creation of a work intended not for concert halls, but for spaces where the audience can experience sound and image individually, at their own pace.

TEMPLE OF URANIA was inspired by the lives and work of French artists Claude Cahun and Marcel Moore , whose artistic practice and approach to the world were ahead of their time. Their reflection on identity, memory, and transformation permeates the entire installation, not as a literal narrative, but as a subtle presence constructed through images, sounds, and atmosphere.

Electronic soundscapes, field recordings, synthesizers, and analog-processed images create a hypnotic environment that encourages pause and attentive listening. The installation doesn't tell a story in the traditional sense. It's a space for contemplation, where time slows down and the viewer constructs their own interpretation, navigating between light, shadow, sound, and silence.

During the FUTUROFONIA Festival, TEMPLE OF URANIA will be presented as an open installation, inviting the audience to freely enter the world of contemporary audiovisual art, where the boundaries between concert, film screening and installation blur, creating one coherent experience.
