Opera Bałtycka

version for the visually impaired

Michał Dobrzyński

One of the most important Polish dramas, Tango by Sławomir Mrożek, was told in musical language. Michał Dobrzyński, a renowned Polish composer of contemporary music, transposed it to the operatic level. Mrożek's drama, a multifaceted and full of nuance work, was divided into parts, and then combined again into a whole – this time, however, shifting the center of gravity from the text itself to the verbal-musical layer. Due to the means of musical expression, this song takes on new meanings, it becomes not so much a musical experiment as a completely new story - without departing from the assumptions of the Mrożków original.

Tango is a production of the Warsaw Chamber Opera, and the project was co-financed by the Minister of Culture and National Heritage under the Collections–Compositional Orders program implemented by the Institute of Music and Dance.
